The young girl who came with a lump
The peripheral smear of a toddler
Whose cells are large and chromatin clumped…
The elderly who surrendered
For the needle readily,
Why did we feel a prick?
When the cells stared at us fiercely...
Our reporting rooms have heard more such stories
Our lenses have seen them come alive each day...
It’s a “behind the screen” field when people said!!
I smile and think,
We have felt them all
Some through our hands, some through the cells
And all through our compassionate heads.
For our cells talk
As we lend our ears,
To the stories of struggles, fears
And of victories and cheers!
